YAS ZONE K – ALDAR ACADEMY YAS ISLAND SCHOOL Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE

A central component to support the Garden Crescent community will be the Yas Island school operated by Aldar Academies. The school is planned to be built on a plot of 55,000 sq.m. and will include vehicle parking, bicycle paths and storage, outdoor recreational areas (football pitches, playgrounds and courtyards).

The 26,000 sq.m. Yas Island school is designed to be a prototypical segregated all age educational facility for the Emirati population, and will include the latest high-tech facilities to support the learning process of 1,800 students. In addition, the facility will feature state-of-the-art classrooms, science laboratories, food technologies, multimaterials workshops, drama studio, ICT suites, music studios, arts rooms, gymnasium, swimming pools and dance studios.

For large assemblies and gatherings, the facility will make use of a multipurpose auditorium which can be shared for community use after school hours.

RW Armstrong is responsible for the non-residential development from concept through construction documents. Inclusive of the overall master plan development, the Yas Island school has integrated strong sustainability objectives and has achieved a 2 Pearl Estidama Building Rating.

RW Armstrong is responsible for all the sustainability aspects of the school. In this role, RW Armstrong acts as the key point of contact between Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council, the client Aldar, consultants, and contractors.
