ENERGY CITY North Africa

RW Armstrong created a master plan and developed the first phase of earthwork tender documents for Energy City, a 780 hectare plot in North Africa designed to attract energy and other businesses, residents, and recreation users.

Energy City  will offer a sophisticated range of residential, retail, leisure and entertainment elements all designed to offer the highest standards of modern living for between 100,000 to 150,000 residents and 50,000+ employees. It will also have a resort element related to the beach and a marina.

Development program includes: marina, high-speed transit station stop, internal transit loop and stations, two 5 star hotels, two business hotels, entertainment center, residential, mixed-use, research business park, university, offices, grand mosque, community facilities (green space, parks, schools, mosques, etc.).

RW Armstrong designed the entire plot from the sand and had to consider two major roadways including the expansion of the coastal highway 90 meters into the site, a new Cornish roadway on the northern portion of the site, a high speed transit stop to be located near the coastal highway on the site, the planning and design of all internal roadways and connections, including an ITS system and the planning and design of all infrastructure.

RW Armstrong led the land use, urban design, and infrastructure plans, as well as establishing the architectural features and guidelines to create a distinctive, high quality resort community destination.
